What is TETHYS?
TETHYS (Talks on Earth Science Topics Hosted by Young Students) is a virtual seminar series showcasing research from current undergraduates and recent graduates (often from Summer internships, Mapping projects, Dissertations or Masters projects). Talks are aimed at an undergraduate audience, although anyone is welcome to attend. TETHYS was designed with three major goals:
-
To build a community for young geoscientists to share ideas and experiences.
-
Provide a platform for young geoscientists to gain experience in presenting academic work within a relatively informal environment; we hope this will be especially useful for those aiming to pursue a career in academia.
-
Provide accessible content that bridges the gap between undergraduate teaching and higher-level research seminars and conferences.
TETHYS has grown from an online community of UK university geological societies. We are always looking for new students from any universities to become involved. If you are interested in giving a talk, we'd love you to get in touch.

Code of Conduct
TETHYS seminars provide a platform for young geoscientists to present their research within a safe setting, independent of race, gender, religion, sexuality or background. Through the informality of the seminars we aim to cultivate a community of young geoscientists, but all attendees should behave in a professional manner.
-
Any actions or comments which may be considered disrespectful, discriminatory or compromise the safe and inclusive nature of the seminars are forbidden. This includes comments during or after the seminar, questions, feedback and any related posts linked to the TETHYS seminars such as, but not limited to, posts on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Youtube.
-
All attendees must remain with their microphones muted unless invited to speak.
